On October 6, 2026, the government appointed Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, currently Vice Chief of the Air Staff, as the 29th Chief of the Air Staff. He will take over from Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh on October 31. Hours later, a short clip began circulating on X showing a grey-haired man in a T-shirt holding a glass of liquor, with a Bollywood song playing in the background. An inset photo of Air Marshal Dixit in uniform and the caption "Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit celebrating his promotion" were added to it. PTI Fact Check has rated the claim misleading. The person in the video is not the Air Marshal, and the clip was edited to falsely link an unrelated man to him. The video carries a "Baba Thoka" watermark, the same handle that recently shared fake documents about Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Balbir Singh. This fits the wider pattern of disinformation aimed at India's military leadership, so such posts should be checked against official sources before being shared.
