After the government named Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit as the next Chief of the Air Staff on October 6, 2026, a clip spread on X showing a grey-haired man holding a glass of liquor and lip-syncing to an old Hindi film song. An inset photo of Air Marshal Dixit and the caption "celebrating his promotion" were added to it. PTI Fact Check found that the man in the video is not the Air Marshal but Charanjeet Sehgal, an Instagram content creator. The original reel was posted on his verified account, charanjeet.sehgal.79, on September 13, 2026, weeks before Dixit's appointment was announced. The clip was edited to falsely connect it with the incoming IAF Chief. It also carries a "Baba Thoka" watermark, the same handle that recently circulated forged documents about Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Balbir Singh. This is part of a wider pattern of disinformation targeting India's military leadership.
